Video Game Review - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
I'm back with another review to talk about one of the best video games EVER made (in my opinion of course). This game is known as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. This amazing classic game was released in 1998 for the 1996 console known as the Nintendo 64.
The game's story surrounds a young hero Link (right), who is destined as the land of Hyrule's Hero of Time to save Princess Zelda (middle) and Hyrule and to defeat the evil Gerudo King Ganondorf (left) as Link holds the Triforce of Courage. To defeat Ganondorf, you must explore the realm of Hyrule to discover new areas and dungeons which holds puzzles, enemies, bosses, keys, items and a gem/medallion needed for Link to gain power on his quest. Alongside his quest, Link is accompanied by his fairy, Navi, which gives him tips along the way.
An essential element of the game is having the ability to travel time between young (left) and adult (right) link, which is 7 years, allowing him to access different parts of Hyrule and use different items. Along with this, Link gains the Ocarina of Time, which allows him to have extra powers such as teleporting around Hyrule and changing night to day through different melodies he is taught by people on his quest.
This game seriously does not get old at all, it's easily my favourite game of all time. There was also a 3DS (2011) remake of the game in 2011, which I had originally played first. The game can be played in 3D, it got a clean up on the graphics and some GUI improvements to allow items to be swapped out easier utilising the touch screen and the dual screen capabilities of the 3DS. The game is also available on the Wii (2006) and Wii U (2012) virtual consoles in the Nintendo 64 game and graphic style with some smoothness. Heres a comparison image of the two versions below in the starting area of Kokiri Forest (Nintendo 64 1996 - left and 3DS 2011 - right).
Rating - obviously 10/10
